Study, Education, and Further Training

clinical-practical year

At the Clinical Department of Trauma Surgery, the Clinical Practical Year (CPY) can be completed as an elective module Tertial C for a duration of 16 weeks, as a mandatory module Tertial B "Surgical and Perioperative Subjects" for a duration of 8 weeks (an additional 8 weeks must be completed at the Department of Orthopedics). It involves actively integrating students into the processes of the Trauma Surgery Department. This provides numerous opportunities for hands-on training under constant supervision (casting techniques, wound care, assisting in surgeries, clinical examination, etc.). Mentors are assigned to students for intensive support. Weekly training sessions cover both the theory of trauma surgery and practical exercises such as suturing techniques, operating techniques under the microscope, and clinical examination. Additionally, within the training sessions, students themselves develop and present topics related to trauma surgery.
